Zhivago2 Takes the FTOPS XIV Main Event at Full Tilt Poker

The Full Tilt Online Poker Series (FTOPS) XIV has now come to an end after a most exciting run. With each series, the heated action continues to grow to a higher level and the savvy and skillful players battle it out for bigger and bigger cash prizes. And with series fourteen, this was definitely the case as a total of 54,823 players joined FTOPSXIV!

With a total of $18,153,100 divvied up among the event winners in 25 events, Full Tilt Online Poker Series XIV was yet another great success. Players from all areas of the poker spectrum turned out to compete for the mega cash up for grabs, including amateurs and pros alike. Among the successful players in the last half-dozen events were Full Tilt Pro Johan Brolenius, who cashed twice in this segment of the series and he just missed making yet another final table in Event 21. In addition, pro player and friend of Full Tilt Poker Gary Jones took fourth place in Event 22 and the 22 year-young online pro Adam Junglen managed to end his play in the Main Event in the third place spot.

In recapping the results of the final six events, of the 2,803 players who registered for the November 13th $200 + $16 No-Limit Hold ’em Event 20, it was Steve “UFman2” Burkholder who walked away from the final table a winner, taking with him a whopping $102,240.40. The tournament was hosted by Full Tilt Poker’s Andy Bloch and featured a guaranteed prize pool of $400,000 with the actual prize pool reaching $560,600.

Also on November 13th, in Event 21, a $300 + $22 Razz 6-max game, players BaDnEwS216 managed a win against a total playing field of only 493 for $18,060.17. Next up was Event 22 on November 14th, and was a $2500 + $120 No-Limit Hold ’em hosted by James Akenhead. It featured a guaranteed prize pool of $2,000,000 however with 938 entrants; the actual prize pool reached $2,345,000. Patrick “obiedman” O’Brien reigned victorious in the event and took home $539,350.00 and Full Tilt Pro Gary Jones finished in 4th place.

November 15th was the last day of the series and began with the No-Limit Hold ’em Knockout, Event 24 with a buy-in of $120 + $9. Hosted by Steven Begleiter, the Guarantee of $800,000 was once again increased to the tune of $983,200 with a registration of 9,832 players. The last finishing Full Tilt Pro in the event was Johan Brolenius in 113th place, while little chief17 enjoyed a big chief size win of $125,959.96.

The excitement all culminated into the FTOPS XIV Main Event 25, a $500 + $35 No-Limit Hold ’em game hosted by Tom Dwan. There was a huge turnout of 5,471 entrants that led to an actual prize pool of $2,735,500, instead of the guaranteed $2.5 million. When it got down to the heads-up battle between zhivago2 and ItsTime2Win, nearly 50 hands played out until zhivago2 moved into the lead. He then forced ItsTime2Win all-in on his hand of A-3 of clubs while zhivago2’s held the superior pocket Jacks. ItsTime2Win ended up with only a pair of threes and with Zhivago2’s Jacks holding up, he took home $418,839 for first place.

Although the excitement of the FTOPS XIV is now over, the next series will kick off in early 2010.
