Important Rake Calculation Update

In an effort to make Rake Calculation fairer for players, Full Tilt Poker is changing the method they use to calculate rake.

FullTilt is moving from the Dealt Method of calculating rake to the Weighted Contributed Method as of October 2010.

The weighted contributed rake method is the fairest method for determining a player’s rake as it credits the player based upon how much they have contributed to the pot.

For example if a player contributes 20% to the pot then they will receive 20% of the rake from that pot. If however, a player does not contribute to the pot then they will not generate any rake.

In other words, with the Dealt method, everyone in a hand who was dealt card got an even split of the rake. So if the pot was $36 and the rake was $1.80 and there were 6 players, then each player is said to have contributed $0.30 and so you would get 27% of that.

With the Weighted Contributed method, your share of the rake is proportional to the amount you put in to the pot. So if you fold pre flop and have put nothing in to the $36 pot, you get nothing back. But if you put in $15 (of the $36) then you get 15/36 times the rake of $1.80 attributed to you. In this case that is $0.75 and you would get 27% of that in rakeback. As you can see the $0.75 is better than $0.30 Dealt, but $0 is not better than $0.30 Dealt.
