Play with the Professor of Poker - Only at Full Tilt Poker
You don't have to go to college to find a professor - just log-in to Full Tilt Poker ! Howard Lederer is Full Tilt Poker's very own "Poker Professor" and is one of the many legendary Poker Pros who play online poker exclusively at Full Tilt Poker.
The Professor's road to poker started with his effort to pursue his passion for playing chess. Howard moved to New York soon after graduating from college to pursue his passion for chess, but instead, he discovered a poker game being held in the back room of his beloved chess club and was instantly captivated!
Over the next two years, Howard played poker almost nonstop, playing for as many as 70 or 80 hours weekly and going home with empty pockets most of the time. He actually earned his table stakes by scurrying to run errands for other players! After exhausting himself sufficiently, Howard realized that he needed a new "game plan" and took the time to slow down, get a good night's sleep and play at slower pace. The result of his new attitude was a huge improvement in his game. Then Howard moved his game to New York's Mayfair Club, a legendary bridge and backgammon club where some the greatest games players in the world made their home.
When No-Limit Hold 'em arrived in New York City, Howard joined a circle of world-class games players who first put the new game to the test. The Mayfair daily game started at 4PM and lasted until the wee hours of the morning, after which the players would meet at a local bar to discuss their latest competitive play. Because the game was new to everyone, the players learned from one another as ideas were shared and strategies analyzed. Among this group were the now famous poker players Dan Harrington, Steve Zolotow, Jay Heimowitz, and Erik Seidel .
It was not until late in the eighties that Howard started to confer with his sister, Annie Duke, about her own game. With his tutoring, Annie has made quite a name for herself in the poker world. Together they made history in 1994, when they became the first brother and sister pair to land at the final table at the WSOP.
Howard moved to Las Vegas in 1993 and in 2000 won a gold bracelet at the WSOP by taking the $5,000 Limit Omaha Hi/Lo event. Then, in 2001, he won his second gold bracelet in the WSOP $5,000 Deuce to Seven event. Howard has racked up an impressive list of titles since he gave up chess for poker and now, you can often find him offering commentary and analysis on Full Tilt Poker's Learn from the Pros page, as well as FSN's Poker Superstars Invitational Tournament. "The Professor" also runs a Poker Fantasy Camp where people can play alongside and learn from the very best. When you decide to play poker, why not join the Professor at Full Tilt Poker? You may just learn a thing or two!
