Bluff Readers Elect Full Tilt as Favorite Poker Room
The votes are in and the Winner is…Full Tilt Poker!
According to Bluff Magazine readers, for the second year in a row, their favorite poker site award goes to Full Tilt Poker.
In 2008 Full Tilt Poker also won in the Best Loyalty Program, Best Cash Games and Best Software categories. And in 2009 Full Tilt Poker dominated the list of winners again, not only as Favorite Poker Site but with two of their most famous players winning in these categories:
1. Top Story of 2009: Phil Ivey Makes WSOP Main Event Final Table
2. Best Online Poker Player: Tom “durrrr” Dwan
3. Favorite Player of 2009: Phil Ivey
Team Full Tilt’s Tom “durrrr” Dwan and Phil Ivey are not only in the know, but they are also in the news that is buzzing around the poker world. Since the readers of Bluff Magazine have given the thumbs up to these highly accomplished Full Tilt Poker pros with their votes in the 5th Annual Bluff Magazine Reader’s Choice Awards, the name Full Tilt Poker is now synonymous with Ivey and Dwan.
In addition to recently topping the All-Time money list, Phil Ivey has been duly recognized for his truly amazing performance in 2009. Not only did he rank highest in the Category for Top Story of 2009 in regards to his making the World Series of Poker Main Event Final Table, but also earned the rank of Favorite Player of 2009. With seven World Series of Poker Bracelets to his credit, as well as one World Poker Tour Championship, and Career Tournament earnings of $12.8 Million, the award recognition seems fitting indeed.
Bluff readers also recognized Tom Dwan, who enjoyed his own outstanding year in 2009 during which he became a member of the elite poker group that makes up Team Full Tilt. Dwan was voted Best Online Poker Player 2009 to commemorate his legendary online play. Dwan, AKA “durrrr,” is known as one of the world’s best high-stakes ring game players, and has Career Tournament Earnings of over $1.1 Million.
But the Dwan and Ivey focus of attention doesn’t stop there; they also recently topped the TV Cash-Game Poker Record. Televised Poker is becoming increasingly popular, due in part to the apparently endless growth in the size of pots created by high-stakes pros out to take down their formidable opponents. Previously, the record for the largest pot played out on TV Cash Game Poker was held by Tom Dwan and Barry Greenstein, but recently on Full Tilt Poker’s Million Dollar Cash Game, televised on SKYTV in Europe, a hand played between Dwan and Ivey brought the record to a new height of more than $1,100,000.
The pre-flop pot kicked off the hand at almost $50,000 with Dwan on the button holding the 6[h] – 7[h] and Ivey in the small blind holding the A[c] – 2[d]. The flop came J[c]-3[d]-5[c], offering both players straight draws. Ivey led for $35,000, and after contemplating his move Dwan called. When the 4[h] came on the turn, Ivey sweetened the pot by $90,000 which was followed by Dwan raising to $232,600. This promoted Ivey to move all-in, making the pot go well above seven figures, and Dwan quickly called. On the river the J[h] fell, putting Ivey out for the count.
The prospect of who will break the record next, and for what amount will keep poker fans coming back to watch as the cash game wars on Full Tilt Poker keep growing bigger. And after an exciting and action-packed 2009, the anticipation of what is to come in 2010 will definitely keep poker fans around the world on the edge of their seats. So the next time you want to play big, or just watch the high stakes action, go to where it is all happening – Full Tilt Poker – the player’s choice!
